The Chinese Center at Megatrend University and the Embassy of the PR China officially celebrated the Chinese New Year, i.e. Sing Festival, simultaneously opening the photography exhibition called Memories of the PR China.
Vice-rector for international cooperation at Megatrend University, Ana Jovancai Stakić and Mr Xu Hong, cultural advisor at the Embassy announced the opening of the event.
Katarina Zakic, the director of the Chinese Center and Natasa Kostic, a Chinese teacher, moderated the progremme .
According to the Chinese New Year, 2015 is the Year of the Wood Goat. The New Year or the Sing Festival is the most significant Chinese public holiday, when Chinese families get together to celebrate it in mutual love and understanding.
Participants in the ceremony were: Bora Dugic, who performed the composition Chinese Suite, Merima Njegomir and Nikola Rackov (who accompanied her with his accordion), who performed a traditional Chinese folk song, members of the martial arts club “Tradicionalni Wing Chung Srbija” from Pozarevac , pupils of the Elementary School Svetozar Miletić from Zemun, as well as the poet Dragan Dragojlović. The students learning Chinese at the Chinese Center also took part in the ceremony.
The event presented all the beauty of the culture and tradition of the Chinese people, but it was also abundant with funny elements, as students acted and told jokes that happen in the everyday life of this people, so the Chinese sense of humor could be felt.
This traditional celebration of the Chinese Year shows that the Chinese Center at Megatrend University, besides its academic and business activities, pays significant attention to cultural activities and every year expands its borders when presenting the Chinese culture.
