Megatrend University delegation, consisting Vice – Rector for international cooperation, PhD Zarko Obradovic, Vice- Rector for Internationalisation, PhD Ana Jovancai Stakic and the Secretary of the Chinese Centre, PhD Natasa Kostic, visited the PR China in the period 14/12 -21/12 and were guests at three important Chinese educational institutions. In the period from 16th to 17th December, the delegation visited the Chinese University called China Three Gorges University (CTGU), which is located in the city of Yichang, in the province of Hubei. The Chinese friends kindly hosted the three -member delegation from Megatrend University and the meeting was held with PhD Huang Yingping, the vice rector at China Three Gorges University, PhD Xi Jing, the director of International Cooperation Department, PhD Liu Haidi, the vice-director of International Cooperation Department and Mrs. Liu Ping, the coordinator for international cooperation.
Further cooperation was agreed on in the meeting between Megatrend and China Three Gorges University, especially in these areas: exchange of students and professors, translating Chinese books chosen by the Chinese partner and publishing these books by Megatrend university (we will strive to continue this form of cooperation until October 2014, i.e. until the Book Fair in Belgrade, when the PR China is a special guest), publishing scientific papers of professors from Three Gorges University in the Megatrend Review (where a section of the Review will be devoted only to scientific papers from China), joint participation in international scientific and research projects, etc. The Megatrend University delegation announced its visit to China Three Gorges University in April 2014, in relation to the international conference of N.E.W.S., which is chaired by Three Gorges University itself. The conference was previously successfully held at Megatrend University in September 2013 and five professors have already applied to participate in the next one. The hosts used the opportunity to show the Megatrend delegation the Three Gorges Dam – the world’s largest hydroelectric power station, 185 m tall and 2,300m long, with its installed power of 2,2500MW, which was completed in 2012.
When returning to Beijing on 17th February, the three-member delegation of Megatrend University, accompanied by the Three Gorges Delegation, visited Hanban – headquarters of all global Confucius institutes. The meeting was hosted by PhD Jing Wei, Vice-Director, Mr. Fan Ding, the director of the Planning and Development Department and Mr. Yin Dongmin, a clerk at the Planning and Development Department. In a two-hour long conversation, Megatrend University was presented to the Hanban executives, previous results of the Chinese Centre were discussed, as well as targets and plans for the future. In the historical moment when the PR China has decided to invest 100 billion euros in our region and when lots of Chinese infrastructure, telecommunications and energetics companies are expected to come and invest in Serbia, Megatrend University wants to contribute to the whole process and enable Serbian citizens and students an education related to learning Chinese, studying Chinese business culture, economics and business.
The Megatrend University delegation also visited Beijing Pedagogical University (Beijing Normal University) on 19/12. We were kindly hosted by PhD Wang Xiumei, the Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ms. Liu Lengxin, the coordinator at the Department of International Cooperation and Zhang Qiwei-a, the library manager. Cooperation between the two universities was agreed, in relation to the exchange of students at undergraduate, master and doctoral studies, joint participation in scientific and research projects, translating books and publishing scientific papers.
The official visit of Megatrend University delegation to Chinese universities has been assessed as successful. This visit was an opportunity to summarize the previous results of the Chinese Centre at Megatrend University, as well as to define new objectives and growth strategy of Chinese studies at Megatrend University, including the cooperation with Chinese universities and participation in scientific projects and conferences in the PR China.
